Wake Up Writing
When do you do your best writing? I’ve heard a lot of people say that you should get up first thing in the morning and start writing. That just doesn’t work for me. I’m not a morning person and never have been. I prefer to write after dark, when the rest of my family is getting ready for bed. I’ve always been a night owl. I love the way the lamp in my workspace casts an eerie glow throughout the room. It inspires me.
My friend KatieAnne, runs a really cool site called Wake Up Writing. She’s been offering daily writing prompts with this site for 6 years now. If you’re the kind of person who enjoys writing first thing in the morning, I highly recommend you check out KatieAnne’s site. Every Monday through Friday, she’ll have a new piece of inspiration for you to jump into. Her writing prompts give you a reason to start your day out creatively.
But don’t let the name fool you. KatieAnne’s prompts are just as effective for those of us who write at night. Her prompts not only give you inspiration, they really make you sit up and think. I’m particularly fond of her phobias prompt. There are so many different directions I could go with this prompt, and that’s what makes it so great.
Next time you’re looking for something to spark your creativity, check out Wake Up Writing. I’m sure you’ll find something to write about, the only problem will be in determining which way to go.

Wow thanks for the gold stars sweetie! You just made my day!
I used to be a night owl too by the way, but my boys are now at an age where they seem to have some kind of ESP and as soon as I start to work, they wake up!
Thanks again! The site does have good reviews, and even awards. It’s even listed in print publications as a good writer’s resource. However getting peer kudos beats all!

Hey, I remember how much help WUW gave me back in the Webseed days. There were a few times when your site kept me writing.
I’m lucky in the sense that both of my kids are teenagers. I don’t have to worry about them waking up in the middle of the night. It’s getting them up for school in the mornings that I have to worry about. LOL Thank goodness for summer vacation.
I do all mine at lunch time or when I should be working
